huayhuash expedition
co-ed experience of finding the other in the unknown
rediscovery of self. mountain medicine. relational healing. reconnection to source
first call may 22 // trek jun 29 - jul 10
Imagine…
A 10-day trek around some of the highest and most stunning mountain scenery not only in the Andes, but anywhere on the planet.
Over 110 miles (or 180 kms) crossing multiple passes between 15,400 to 16,500 feet, or 4,690 to 5,050 meters (with 5 at over 16,400 feet or 5000 m), touching glacier tongues, crossing wild rivers, and traversing ridges with endless vistas, with only one small village on the way to refill about halfway through the trip.
Connecting with each other, men and women coming together, and dare I say, coalescing and collaborating with the two poles of energy, to create a beautiful experience of divine union and understanding the masculine and feminine gifts at play.
One day at a time, with one another, learning to trust, and falling in love, with the unknown.

"We went into exploration of my feminine, which as a primarily masculine man, was intimidating for me. Ish did a beautiful job of helping me to feel deeply supported from the moment the session started right through till the end. I felt like I could deeply trust him to go wherever I needed to go in that. If you're thinking about working with Ish, I can't recommend him enough based on my experience of him."

OVERVIEW
If you’ve worked with me, then you know that this expedition won’t be a vacation. I’m not interested in helping you to mindlessly check out, create some solace from your daily grind, and to bring you back right where you were before. Rather, I’m interested in facilitating your reconnection to your deepest truth, the one that may have lied dormant as you’ve been hit over the head with what you have to do that you forget who you are. I’m interested in facilitating your awakening, and to witness the rebirth of your indigenous, wild genius.
That’s what this is. The Cordillera Huayhuash is the second highest section of the Peruvian Andes and is the location of some the highest peaks in the country. It’s arguably one of the top two alpine circuits in the world along with Annapurna and the Everest basecamp. It’s one of the most remote, wild, and least touristy treks in at least the Americas, and is probably best known as the location for the events relayed in ‘Touching the Void’.
While we won’t engage in any alpine climbing, we will be faced with more than a week of isolation in one of the more remote places in the world (and probably the most remote place that you’ve encountered to date). We won’t see many people, and the few indigenous people we will encounter won’t even speak spanish. Our company will be ourselves and each other. Every day, we will wake up early, trek for close to 10 hours a day, passing multiple high passes, get to our campsite just in time to set up for the night. The meals we consume will be simple but nutritious, and the lands we’ll be on will be vast but sparse.
It’s not meant to be luxurious. And if you’re making this possible big trip to another continent, you might be asking “why”? Why put yourself through this? Isn’t life difficult enough as is? Where’s the joy in taking on this added challenge?
My answer is, “why not?” When was the last time you let yourself back off from the intense control that you’ve had over your life?
When was the last time you actually let go of the mechanisms that you’ve created for safety?
What has that gotten you?
Maybe a couple of weeks vacation? Maybe a 5% annual increase in your salary? Maybe a new TV, or a new mortgage?
Are you actually happy?
Are you consciously choosing how you get to be each day of your life?
Are you actively participating in the mystery that wants to unfold through you, if you would just let go?
If not, this is your opportunity.
Cultural Immersion. Alpine Expedition. Mountain Initiation. Divine Nourishment.

Tips for guides

"Over six sessions, I became clear of some of the blindspots around leadership and how I was showing up at work and in life. Through Ish’s support, I was able to make some potent breakthroughs that I wasn’t even aware of in the beginning, let alone break through them."
Mark Gobien, Team Lead
Frequently Asked Questions
HOW DIFFICULT IS THE Trek?
The trek is classified as Grade C in difficulty, which implies that it’s fit for those with some experience in multi-day expeditions. Many of the days will have steep sections that cause rapid altitude gain in a short time.
can i join if i haven’t done multi-day expeditions before?
It depends on your physical and mental aptitude. We will have porters carrying our supplies, but this is still a fairly intense expedition. If you have never been on a trek before, this might not be the right time. If you’re unsure, fill out the application and I’ll get back to you.
can i bring my partner? can we do this together?
This expedition is meant to guide each participant to a deeper descent into their soul. While your partner is welcome to join this experience, the expectation is that each person is responsible for their own share of work, leading up to and during the trek. This means that circumstances and feelings might come up that relate to your relationship with each other. While I’m happy to work with the both of you on that, that’s out of the scope of this experience, as it’s an individual and collective journey into your own psyche.
With that said, if both you and your partner see individual value in this experience and you’re able to connect with each other as well as the rest of the participants, you’re both welcome to join.
how does this differ from the ausangate leadership vigil?
Although both Huayhuash and Ausangate include a physically intensive trek, they are unique.
Ausangate incorporates a few more rituals and practices. Ausangate is for men only, is more mystical, and requires a deeper spiritual willingness, as we’ll be in deep communion with the natural world before, during, and after the trek. There’s also a medicine ceremony involved, as well as a side quest to Machu Picchu. The calls leading up to Ausangate focuses more on the spiritual cleanliness and integrity,
Huayhuash is open to men and women, is a longer trek, and requires a better physical condition. We’ll be higher up, so it also requires a few more days to acclimatize., The calls leading up to Huayhuash focus on physical and logistical preparation.
In short, Huayhuash is open to both men and women, is more physically and emotionally demanding. Ausangate is open to only men, the trek is shorter in duration, incorporates a fasting protocol and a medicine ceremony, and is more spiritually demanding.

“Before my experience with Ish I had decided breath work wasn't for me. I had some experiences that led me to believe that breath work (particularly in groups) was in fact unsafe. But when I had the opportunity to be held by Ish in this setting, I felt called to try again. I know the powerful and gentle space Ish holds and I trust him completely. Participating in a group session and then a 1:1 session with Ish has completely transformed my relationship to this tool. I had deep and profound emotional releases, grief, anger and everything in between. I felt completely safe with Ish and he helped me move through these deep releases with grace and gentleness with myself. I am forever grateful for this experience, I will continue to work with Ish and I highly recommend you do the same!
I have been lucky enough to receive this man's medicine in many settings over the last few years. I see him as an expert, a confidant and a deeply trusted safe masculine presence in my life. Ish has such an open hearted, loving nature that creates a felt impact so palpable that will stay with you for days to come. He will hold the tender parts of you gently and yet also artfully challenge and initiate you into your higher calling. Ish has been an incredible catalyst for growth and change in my life. He's been someone I have trusted countless times to help me find the true voice of my soul, to learn to love and trust more deeply and live more authentically.
His energy alone is medicine. I can't recommend this man's work enough!.”
